The Joker's Wild  PILOT

It is believed that Jack Barry came up with the idea of "The Joker's Wild" during his stint with Goodson-Todman in the 60's. So, in 1969, Barry produced a pilot at CBS TELEVISION CITY. Since he was black-balled from tv due to the scandals, popular PASSWORD host Allen Ludden was tapped as host to this pilot.

HOST: ALLEN LUDDEN

SCORING SYSTEM

If ONE of each category came up, each question was worth ONE POINT.
If TWO of a particular category came up, each question was worth TWO POINTS. If THREE of the same category came up, each question was worth THREE POINTS.

Remember, the JOKER is wild, so you could double or triple the point value of each question. If THREE JOKERS came up, you answered a question correctly, and won the game.

OTHER DIFFERENCES

You did not have to take a particular category that was showing on the wheels. EXAMPLE: If you spun 2 Showbiz and 1 Baseball (each question being worth 2 points), you can drop BASEBALL and answer 2 questions in SHOWBIZ worth 2 points each. The player who reached 13 points won the game and went on to the bonus round.

BONUS ROUND

After each round, the winning contestant got a chance to spin the wheels for prizes. Prizes on the wheels ranged from a 5 cent piece of candy to $500. You got three spins. You could stop and take the prizes at anytime. But it was all or nothing. And the third spin was the final spin and you had to take what was on the wheels. After the bonus round was played, two NEW contestants was introduced and the same gameplay went on.
